Vets for Climate Action welcomed the opportunity to provide a submission into the inquiry on the NSW Climate Change (Net Zero Future) Bill 2023.

We provided the following recommendations: 

1. Use Science-Based and Strengthened Targets to strengthen the Bill to reduce emissions by 75% below 2005 levels by 2030 and reach net zero emissions by 2035

2. Introduce a Review Mechanism and set Interim Targets

3. Consider the impact on All Animals and amend the Bill to include explicit consideration of the impact of the changing climate on animals (wildlife, livestock and companion animals, both terrestrial and marine).
