Annual Report for 2023
2023 has been a big year for Vets for Climate Action! As the year comes to a close, we are proud to share our achievements with our caring community. We invite you to read our Annual Report.
A few highlights from the past year include:
- the launch of our world-first Climate Care Program - a program which shows the Australian veterinary profession is a leader in the journey towards net zero
- NSW Parliament passed its Climate Change (Net Zero Future) Bill with cross-party support. The legislation includes a net zero by 2050 target and critically, a target to reduce emissions by 70% by 2035. In our submission, VfCA called for science-based and strengthened emission reduction targets and that the Bill include explicit consideration of the impacts that a changing climate has on animals - which is now does. A victory for the animals we love and care for!
- the first Rural and Regional Pilot Program is underway in the federal electorate of Nicholls. This Program engages with the veterinary and broader animal care community in rural and regional areas, increasing awareness of the impact of climate change on wildlife, domestic pets and livestock (and associated economies) and encouraging climate action.
