The policies that Australians support at this election will determine whether we take bold steps toward a safer future or continue down a path of worsening climate disasters.

This is our chance to demand action. By contacting your local candidates, you send a clear message: climate action is a priority for voters. Candidates need to know that their stance on climate will influence how Australians, including veterinary professionals and animal lovers, cast their votes. The decisions made in the next Parliament will shape the policies that either protect them or put them at greater risk.

Tips for Writing to Politicians About Climate Action

  1. Be Clear & Concise – Keep your message brief, focused, and to the point. Clearly state that climate action is a key voting issue for you.

  2. Make It Personal – Share why climate action matters to you, your community, and your profession. As a veterinary professional or animal lover, highlight the impact on animals, wildlife, and agriculture.

  3. Ask for a Commitment – Politely but firmly ask the candidate to support strong climate policies and outline specific actions you want them to take.

  4. Stay Respectful & Professional – A well-worded, respectful message is more likely to be taken seriously and receive a response.

  5. Follow Up – If you don’t get a reply, send a follow-up email or call their office. Holding candidates accountable shows them voters care about this issue.
