Vets for Climate Action welcomed the opportunity to provide a submission to National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) on the Otway Basin 3D Multi-client Marine Seismic Survey. 

NOPSEMA were seeking public comment on the Environmental Plan submitted by Norwegian-owned TPG-NOPEC Geophysical Company Pty Ltd, to conduct seismic blasting on the waters of the Otway Basin, off the coast of Victoria. 

VfCA made a number of recommendations including that NOPSEMA heed the science and refuse to permit the seismic testing in the Otway basin to prevent further loss to ecosystems and the local biodiversity.
