Are you passionate about people, community-building, and making a difference for animals and the planet?

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Australian Veterinary Environmental Alliance (formerly known as Vets for Climate Action) is looking for an enthusiastic and organised volunteer Volunteer Coordinator to help nurture and grow the community of dedicated volunteers who power our work.

About Us

We are an Australian registered charity mobilising the veterinary profession to take action on climate change. Through programs like the Climate Care Program, ZerOctober, Sustainable Equine Futures, and the World Veterinary Environmental Alliance (WVEA), we connect veterinary professionals to meaningful climate action — for animals, people and the planet. We're a small, passionate team at an exciting inflection point, and our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do.

The Role

As Volunteer Coordinator, you'll be the friendly first point of contact for our volunteer community — welcoming new volunteers, matching people to the right roles, and making sure everyone feels valued and set up to succeed. You'll coordinate onboarding, scheduling and recognition activities, and work closely with the Board and the chairs of our Advisory Committees to keep our volunteer network thriving.

This is a volunteer role requiring approximately 5–7 hours per week, with flexibility around key program periods.

About You

You'll bring experience in volunteer coordination, community management, HR or a people-facing role, along with strong communication skills and a genuine love of building community. Above all, you share our passion for climate action and care deeply about animals, people and the planet.

Why Join Us?

  • Help shape and grow a volunteer community that's making a real difference
  • Work with a warm, collaborative team and Board
  • Be part of an organisation at an exciting moment of growth and transformation
  • Flexible, remote-friendly commitment

To apply, please send your cover letter and resume to Board Chair Dr Catherine Harper: [email protected]
