Sustainable Internal Parasite Management for Horses
Watching the recording of our second Sustainable Equine Series webinar: Sustainable Internal Parasite Management for Horses
Presented as part of the Sustainable Equine Futures initiative through Vets for Climate Action, this series creates space for open, practical discussion. And for shared learning about the real-world challenges and opportunities of embedding environmental sustainability into everyday equine practice.
The session opened with a presentation from an international expert - Associate Professor Nikki Walshe, equine veterinarian, researcher and academic from the University of Limerick, Ireland, providing insight into the current parasite management landscape in Ireland, including emerging resistance challenges and changes to prescribing practices.
This was followed by a panel discussion chaired by Dr Catherine Chicken, with leading Australian veterinarians, researchers and industry representatives, including:
- Professor Kris Hughes — BVSc, FANZCVS, DipECEIM, Professor of Equine Medicine, Charles Sturt University
- Dr Anne Beasley — PhD, Senior Lecturer in Animal Science and Production, The University of Queensland
- Dr Wendy Perriam (Crowther) — BSc, BVMS(Hons), MANZCVS (Eq Med), CMAVA, Resident Veterinarian for Arrowfield Stud, Gundy Veterinary Services
- Dr Tia Holyoake — BVSc, Technical Services Veterinarian, International Animal Health
A big thank you to our guest speaker and panelists for their time and sharing their expertise.
