Who's coming along
Sustainable Internal Parasite Management for Horses: Making Routine, Responsible!

This will be the second event in a new online webinar and discussion-panel series for equine veterinary teams, presented as part of the Sustainable Equine Futures initiative through Vets for Climate Action.
The series aims to create space for open, practical discussion and shared learning about the real-world challenges and opportunities of embedding environmental sustainability into everyday equine practice.
Anthelmintic resistance is emerging as one of the most significant health and sustainability challenges facing the Australian equine industry. As resistance to commonly used dewormers continues to grow, veterinarians and horse owners are being challenged to rethink traditional approaches to parasite control and move toward more evidence-based, sustainable strategies.
Join us for an engaging online webinar and panel discussion exploring the evolving landscape of equine internal parasite management through the lens of animal health, environmental sustainability and long-term industry resilience.
The session will open with a presentation from an international expert - Associate Professor Nikki Walshe, equine veterinarian, researcher and academic from the University of Limerick, Ireland, providing insight into the current parasite management landscape in Ireland, including emerging resistance challenges and changes to prescribing practices.
This will be followed by a panel discussion chaired by Dr Catherine Chicken - bringing together leading Australian veterinarians, researchers and industry representatives, including:
- Professor Kris Hughes — BVSc, FANZCVS, DipECEIM, Professor of Equine Medicine, Charles Sturt University
- Dr Anne Beasley — PhD, Senior Lecturer in Animal Science and Production, The University of Queensland
- Dr Wendy Perriam (Crowther) — BSc, BVMS(Hons), MANZCVS (Eq Med), CMAVA, Resident Veterinarian for Arrowfield Stud, Gundy Veterinary Services
- Dr Tia Holyoake — BVSc, Technical Services Veterinarian, International Animal Health
This event is part of the Sustainable Equine Futures initiative by Vets for Climate Action, helping support a more resilient and sustainable future for the equine industry.
