Australia’s Nature Positive Plan: the need for stronger laws in our changing climate

Join Vets for Climate Action in this Masterclass to hear from Dr Megan Kessler, Humane Society International Australia’s Nature Campaigner, and Tarquin Moon, BirdLife Australia’s National Nature Campaigner on "Australia’s Nature Positive Plan: the need for stronger laws in our changing climate".

About the presenters

Dr Megan Kessler has over 20 years of experience working to protect the Australian environment, primarily with environmental NGOs. Megan joined HSI Australia in 2022 after more than a decade as the Scientific Director at the Environmental Defenders Office, before which she was completing her PhD on tourism impacts on humpback whales off Sydney and in the Kingdom of Tonga. She has published on threatened species and ecological communities, and has worked in both marine and terrestrial conservation. Megan is passionate about ensuring that we have strong environmental laws that work to protect nature.

Tarquin Moon has worked with a number of not-for-profit environment organisations (TWS, WWF, AMCS, ACF etc.) for the past 20 years both as a volunteer and as a campaigner. Based in Qld, her main focus has been Qld land clearing, world heritage listing for Cape York and the protection of Qld rivers. More recently her work with BirdLife Australia is focused on building broad support from all sectors for strong reform of the national nature laws.
