Practicing Veterinary Medicine Sustainably: Decarbonising Veterinary Care

Join Vets for Climate Action for our April Masterclass, Practicing Veterinary Medicine Sustainably: Decarbonising Veterinary Care where Dr Westworth will discuss greenhouse gas emissions in the context of veterinary practice and the practical steps clinics can take to reduce their carbon footprint.

Topics will include electrification, renewable electricity, energy efficiency, transport, anaesthesia, procurement, and more — as well as how to establish a Green Team and develop an environmental management plan.

About Dr Diccon Westworth

Dr Westworth graduated with a BVSc (Hons) from the University of Melbourne in 1995, completed a surgical internship in Sydney, and went on to finish a Neurology/Neurosurgery residency at the University of California, Davis in 2006. That same year, he became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and joined VCA Animal Care Center of Sonoma County.

A published author in international veterinary journals — with work covering choroid plexus brain tumours and spinal congenital anomalies — Dr Westworth now leads the Sustainability Green Team at ACC and serves on the board of the Veterinary Sustainability Alliance. He brings both clinical depth and hands-on sustainability leadership to this conversation.
