Climate change is hurting the animals we love and care for. Veterinary professionals are on the frontline, experiencing the changes firsthand. We see the devastating impacts that floods, bushfires and heat stress have on our livestock, pets and wildlife (such as the inconsolable loss of 3 billion animals in the bushfires of 2019/20). As the natural guardians of animal welfare, the veterinary community has a responsibility to use our knowledge, skills and influence to protect animals - and the people who care for them - from climate change. Vets for Climate Action represents concerned veterinarians, veterinary nurses, practices and industry partners across Australia who want action on climate. We are mobilising the veterinary profession and broader animal care community to tackle the climate crisis within and beyond our sector. We are educating the profession and Australian community about the impact of climate change on the animals. We are reducing the sector's greenhouse gas emissions through our Climate Care Program. We are advocating to government to drive policy change on behalf of all animals. And, we are collaborating with like-minded, values-aligned organisations - because we cannot do this alone. We invite you to support us, and be a voice for all animals. |
